Regulatory Update: A Sector in Transition
The worldwide regulatory landscape has been in a state of flux for some time. While some changes were planned, others have been the result of outside forces (e.g., pandemic). This session will provide an overview of the most important MDR changes affecting the EU medical device market, as well as highlight a number of FDA initiatives that are important to manufacturers. Best practice recommendations in navigating these rough waters will be provided.
OEM/CMO Relationship Outlook: The Impact of Consolidation
With the trend of M&A so prevalent throughout the orthopedic device manufacturing landscape, it is only natural to expect changes to the relationship between OEM and supply partner when an acquisition occurs. What is this impact and how does it affect the overall manufacturing industry? This session will bring together representatives from both OEMs and suppliers who have engaged in M&A to hear from them how existing and new relationships were affected along with related topics intertwined into this discussion.

Design Considerations: Developing Products for the ASC Environment
A major shift is happening within the orthopedic device space. More procedures are moving out of the hospitals and into ambulatory surgical centers (ASC). With this shift comes a different set of demands from orthopedic device manufacturers, from instruments to implants to other surgical equipment. Further, product packaging, sterilization concerns, and available space are all factors impacting the development of these technologies. Hear from representatives who are intimately involved with this transition and what aspects they have identified as needing to be addressed.

The Growing Role of Additive Manufacturing
The use of additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing within healthcare and the development of medtech has been discussed for some time now. Until somewhat recently, it’s mostly been leveraged for rapid prototyping and gaining new perspectives on a patient’s anatomy. Today, however, additive manufacturing is being used for many more applications, including finished medical devices and production-ready parts. Further, AM is being moved to the point of care to allow physicians to gain greater access to its benefits.

Enabling Success: A Discussion of the New Technologies Transforming Orthopedics
Data-driven, AI-assisted, minimally invasive surgical technologies are revolutionizing the orthopedic device landscape. These enabling technologies include navigational systems, AR/VR equipment, robotic surgery solutions, among other offerings. What impact are these solutions having on the industry today? What will the impact be tomorrow? How will they change procedural techniques? What are the most important considerations when developing them? This panel discussion will tackle an array of questions around enabling technologies and what their future holds.
